Friendship lies not in the transcendental experience
Nor in the highlands of spirituality
With humility I met reality
Friendship lies in the simple laughters
Times spent together
Talking to each other
Complaining, congratulating, thanking
And being brutally frank
Simplicity binds true camaraderie
Lofty ideals a hinderance
Haughtiness a great woe
To friendships that endure.
Together, let us ensure
The fleeting hours bestowed
Are enjoyed to the fullest
In each other’s presence
And lastly, don’t forget to behave
But of course not too much
